PTFA

Barrow C.E. Primary School Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) works to organise fun, social events for parents and children at the school. The primary aim of the PTFA is to raise money to support the ongoing needs of the school but we also work to help parents and children get to know one another and build a sense of school community. The PTFA depends on the work of parent volunteers and money raised from events helps the school provide more for our children and pupils.

The main agenda of PTFA events across the academic year includes our own Christmas Fayre, celebrating Guy Fawkes Night, helping out at school discos, and organising various fun fund-raising activities with the children.

The PTFA also regularly works with the local community. We publish a village calendar every yeaqr with pictures from residents, and recently partnered with members of the community to improve the school gardens. We also organise a quiz every month to raise funds at the school which takes place at the local village pub, The White Horse.

In the last academic year, the PTFA raised just under £5,000 and funded school activities including a contribution of £3,000 towards new school play equipment. We also received a grant from the Co-op Local Community Fund to increase the biodiversity of our pond area.

Get Involved

If you are a parent, guardian or a relative of a child at Barrow C.E.Primary School or a member of staff, then you are already a member of the PTFA. We rely on volunteers to run the PTFA, to help organise and run individual events and to form the PTFA Committee each year with the majority having full time jobs.

As a member of the Co-op Local Community Fund, it is also possible for you to raise money for the school just by doing your local shop. Add the school as your chosen cause at the following link:

We have an annually elected committee (drawn from parent volunteers) which is made up of a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, and we are lucky enough to have many talented parents who also assist and volunteer with other jobs.

We generally hold a PTFA meeting once every haf term on zoom, and small working groups organise each event - everyone helps in any way they can. If you would like to get involved, please contact us at [email protected]
