Separating soluble solids from liquids

SALT CRYSTALS

To make good crystals you need to make a concentrated solution of the substance. We added salt to warm water until no more would dissolve. We then put a piece of string over a pencil and dropped it into the solution. Over the next few weeks we watched the crystals form as the water evaporated.
