All the children made their own poppy. We then joined them together to make a single large poppy.

This will be displayed in St. Bartholomew's church on Sunday.

The children of Oak class have designed and painted some truly wonderful Christmas cards ready for production. They will be available to their families  for purchase shortly.

A wonderful Harvest Celebration was held in the church on Friday with singing,prayers,poetry and art. There was also some interesting information shared about the importance of bees to our harvest. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and the bees recently made by Willow class.

This week in Science we looked closely at Bees.....learning about their structure through song- Head,thorax abdomen song. We learnt about their life-cycle and discussed environmental issues surrounding the protection of Bees. We enjoyed tasting honey too!

It was an absolute privilege to take our Year 5/6 class to the Conway Centre. We had two rain free days and one with a few light showers whilst at home there were floods and constant rain. Whilst there we sailed Keelboats,did the zip wire,low ropes and problem solving. We also raced dragons, did orienteering,navigated the night line,danced at the disco,toasted marshmallows and played Mrs Nolan's Bingo !

The children were impeccably well behaved. The centre staff commented on what a super group of children they were. Thank you to all who made it possible.

It was wonderful to see our incredible artwork on display at the village Rose Show. Congratulations to all the winners. Well done to all the children. A superb effort from everyone.

Also it was brilliant to see our planes on display with the Barrow History Society WW2 exhibition.

Thank you to all the children for sharing their work with the community.

Today we planted our sunflowers outside.

Mrs Heard came and talked to us about swans.

We then planted flowers in the shape of a swan in our garden.

Using painted papers Year 5/6 created these collages based on a seaside setting. Linked to the topic 'Ocean planet' , the individual pieces are hung together to create a class piece.

Art workshop day with visiting sculptor, Faith Bebbington Year 3/4, by Mrs Nolan

Year 3/4 class worked with sculptor Faith Bebbington to produce these incredible 3D pieces. 

All the children worked  so well as a team and should be very proud of themselves. The flowers will be seen at various locations around the village over the next few months.

Just a little more work to be done. Our pupils have thought of some exciting locations to photograph the soldier using iPads. Watch out for the next gallery posting.

WW2 planes, by Mrs Nolan

Over the past 2 weeks pupils have been making observational drawings of WW2 planes particularly the Spitfire. We then set to work building models of them. The last week of term saw us painting and attaching their markings. They are now flying above us in class. Sorry I didn't have my camera with me when I put them up.....watch this space next week.

Later in the year they will go on display in our Village Hall as part of the Village History Exhibition.

We had a lovely day with all of KS2 making paper dragons, doing maths using Chinese numbers, sharing stories and tasting some delicious rice crackers, stir fry and rice noodles. We all left with traditional red envelopes filled with our hopes and dreams for the new year.

Starting with our small studies in pen,then creating larger versions on brown paper with oil pastel and black marker.

We have been investigating 3D shapes, counting faces,vertices and edges. We have also been looking at nets of 3D shapes. We all started with a square based pyramid but Mrs Nolan has some tricky ones for us to try next.
