We have been studying the work of Hundertwasser as inspiration for the creation of our own 3m textiles banner. This is based on the buildings and features of Barrow village. This will form part of our contribution to the History Society Exhibition in October 2021.
The children have worked through a process of taking photographs using our ipads on a walk around the village,using their sketch books to work on their designs and the final collaborative production.

Suggestions:

We are encouraged to use our windows and front gardens to display our work and create the largest exhibition EVER of paintings,drawings,photography,sculpture,digital art,textiles and printmaking.
Barrow School Community are coming together to showcase their art as part of this nationwide event.
Over the coming weeks we will be adding to our collection so keep watching.

Oak class have been out in their gardens looking at how the frost has made everything beautiful.
They created some beautiful natural sculptures from what they could find.

To mark Remembrance Day, the children created beautiful poppies and took them out into the school grounds, arranged them thoughtfully into compositions that they then photographed. Willow Class are very proud of the results.

Here you can see some of the wonderful art work the children have done over the last few weeks in school.
The paintings should have been exhibited in the Barrow Rose Show but this year will be included in the 'on line' art exhibition.

It was fanatstic to work with Willow class to create a class painting/collage related to their Rainforest project. We were inspired by the French painter Henri Rousseau. You all worked so hard and showed such talent. A wonderful Barrow Team effort.

All the children made their own poppy. We then joined them together to make a single large poppy.
This will be displayed in St. Bartholomew's church on Sunday.

A wonderful Harvest Celebration was held in the church on Friday with singing,prayers,poetry and art. There was also some interesting information shared about the importance of bees to our harvest. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and the bees recently made by Willow class.

It was an absolute privilege to take our Year 5/6 class to the Conway Centre. We had two rain free days and one with a few light showers whilst at home there were floods and constant rain. Whilst there we sailed Keelboats,did the zip wire,low ropes and problem solving. We also raced dragons, did orienteering,navigated the night line,danced at the disco,toasted marshmallows and played Mrs Nolan's Bingo !
The children were impeccably well behaved. The centre staff commented on what a super group of children they were. Thank you to all who made it possible.

It was wonderful to see our incredible artwork on display at the village Rose Show. Congratulations to all the winners. Well done to all the children. A superb effort from everyone.
Also it was brilliant to see our planes on display with the Barrow History Society WW2 exhibition.

We had a lovely day with all of KS2 making paper dragons, doing maths using Chinese numbers, sharing stories and tasting some delicious rice crackers, stir fry and rice noodles. We all left with traditional red envelopes filled with our hopes and dreams for the new year.
